From the Ring to the Booth: The Discipline Behind the Groove.
From Warrington to Leeds, Jamie Aramayo represents a new wave of Northern UK talent redefining what underground house can sound like. Born and raised in Warrington, Jamie grew up surrounded by music. His dad was a DJ who spun at every house party and event possible. He caught the bug early, first touching decks at just 13 and throwing house parties across the North before most people could even get into clubs.
“I grew up around music my whole life. Throughout my childhood, I watched my dad DJ at every house party, event, and social gathering he possibly could. Little did I know this was shaping my passion before it even started.”
From there, Jamie began producing, laying the foundation for a sound that fuses UK garage’s bounce with house’s driving rhythm. It's a hybrid of garage swing, punchy 4x4 kicks, and vocal edits that always feel ready for the club.
From the Gloves to the Groove
Before music took over, Jamie spent his teenage years boxing in England. That discipline, focus, and grit eventually translated into his career behind the decks.
“Boxing taught me many things, but the most prominent lesson would be the discipline and focus to keep your head down and keep moving forward. The music industry is full of distractions. Without a good level of discipline, it’s very easy to get caught up in the mist—something I’m still learning today.”
That mindset carried him through when he moved to Leeds in 2022. He knew no one in the city but arrived with one goal: to make music his life. Two years later, that drive has led to playing MiNT Festival’s main stage, curating sold-out parties with his event brand J&Friends, and releasing on some of the UK’s most respected underground labels.
Jamie’s sound is pure UK energy. It's a blend of tech-house and garage where basslines swing, drums punch, and vocals cut with soul. Growing up, his influences came straight from the golden era of UKG and grime.
“My roots are UK grime and UKG/Bassline. Artists like DJ Q, Flava D, Royal T, Skepta, and the rest of the BBK crew really shaped my early years of music listening. Today, I definitely lean more toward house music, but those garage tones still influence the music I make.”
That foundation led to releases like B&H Blue EP (2021), House Rules (2023/24), and Amour (2024). He’s also dropped collaborations like Wanna C U with DXNBY and Devil Dealer on Darius Syrossian’s Moxy Muzik in 2025. His tracks have picked up support from heavyweights like Michael Bibi, East End Dubs, Max Dean, and Archie Hamilton, proving his sound resonates across scenes.
The Sound of the North
Home is still at the core of Jamie’s story. While Warrington gave him his spark, Leeds gave him his canvas. It became a place to experiment, collaborate, and grow into one of the North’s most promising exports.
“Warrington’s a great place, but I had a burning desire early on to leave my hometown and chase something bigger. In that respect, Warrington gave me the push to explore new places and scenarios I might never have entered otherwise. But home is always where the heart is.”
That grassroots spirit shines through J&Friends, the Warrington-based event series he built from scratch. Four sold-out shows deep and counting, it’s a project rooted in community. It's his way of giving back to the same scene that shaped him.
“J&Friends is a project I’ve had so much fun with. Four out of four sold-out shows, and lots more exciting stuff in the pipeline. Playing in your hometown, to very familiar faces, usually pushes me to explore avenues I wouldn’t have gone down otherwise.”
From Warrington Roots to Global Reach
Focus, Vision, and the Future
Now part of the next generation carrying UK underground forward, Jamie’s ambition stretches beyond the club circuit. He’s sitting on unreleased heaters, stacking shows across the country, and eyeing global stages.
“Over the next five years, I want to break into new markets as an artist. The USA is a huge target. But ultimately, becoming a global artist is the end goal.”
A perfectionist by nature, Jamie used to overthink every track while chasing flawlessness. But with growth has come perspective.
“In my early days of music, I focused so much on trying to make flawless tracks. But as I’ve grown, I’ve learned there’s beauty in the imperfections. That’s what makes it unique. For me, a track just has to feel right in that present moment.”
As his career continues to climb with gigs like Dvotion Halloween 2025 in Leeds and support from East End Dubs’ extENDed parties, Jamie is making good on the promise he made when he moved to Leeds with nothing but belief.
“extENDed should be incredible. To play alongside an artist like East End Dubs, someone who’s been a huge inspiration throughout my career, will never get old.”
